Windows 11, with various browsers - - I rarely hear the backing track. I can turn click on and off and hear that, but no backing track.
One does have to tap the 'Backing' button, on my laptop the 'Backing' button spins while the song progresses with no sound.
Eventually there will be sound - but it might be the next day. For example I now have two instances of app open, one from just now with no sound; and one instance opened a few days ago that works fine. However the 'synth' sound quality is so bad I would never use it.
Thanks for your feedback @lorenzop, exactly what i need ! Especially before the app goes live π.
Backing track + Infinite spin:
Oh yeah that's on me, there wasn't anything to catch errors + was downloading all the guitar samples at the same time. Meaning if your connection isn't that good it can take some time AND if one of the download fails it spins forever.
On the synth, well it's a synth, I can try to use another library for that but I'd rather spend more time recording La Pompe on the tunes instead. I think it provides more value to the user and to me as a growing musician. What do you think ?
I'm now reworking how the samples are fetched, and when. Will try to download them as soon as the app is opened, or to bundle them into the app directly so you don't have to re-download them. After all once they're there you should not have to download them again, and using the App download for that purpose seems to make sense.
Another detail: the key (top right) doesn't seem right when it's a minor key e.g. for Autumn Leaves in Bb (Gm) I have to choose the key of G rather than Bb to get the correct chords.
Likewise Anouman in Dm appears as being in the key of D.
The sample you created on Minor Swing is nice. What helps me in my current struggle with timing is backing tracks with very short chords, almost as short as clicks. Long chords encourages more sloppy playing off and around the beat. Also long heavy tracks make my practice solos sound great even when they suck.
Thanks Bill, nice catch, and glad the backing's working now.
You're spot on. HG keys every tune by its playing tonic, so for a minor tune the picker was showing a bare "D" / "G" that reads as major... misleading. Just fixed it: minor tunes now carry the mode in the picker, so Anouman shows "Dm", and Autumn Leaves is "Em" by default (pick "Gm" for the Bb/Gm version the horns like). Should feel a lot less surprising.
Going live in the next update. Really appreciate the report π
Ok I see thanks ! Several players told me that while practicing it's generally good to have short chords. Glad the current level of backing is enough, i'll try add more of them !
