  no need for any glue at all. The pressure of the strings will keep the shim in place. If you are gluing your shims then you should have some one who knows what they are doing work on your instrument.

  Super glue will come loose just use a few drops, peel off a veneer or two and your action is lower--easy. Veneer is going to make a tighter connection than a poorly fit thick shim. I think too much is being made of the material for the shim, any hardwood will work well. I've heard of people succesfully using cigar veneer (Spanish cedar) and that stuff is very light weight.

  If you want to so it right just order a few bridges. When your action gets too low put a higher bridge on. Dupont bridges are not that expensive.

  where's the best place to buy a dupont bridge? would it fit on a gitane? is there a standard height?

  Here are the heights of the Dupont bridges:
  # 1 17.5mm
  #2 19mm
  #3 20.5mm
  #4 22mm
  
  You can order them from Jaques at gypsyguitars.com. One difference between the StewMac and the Dupont bridges is that the Duponts are made of rosewood, the StewMac of ebony.

  how about quality? do the stew-macs compare to the duponts? is rosewood the standard for dupont?

  Get a Dupont. The StewMac ones are okay but not nearly the same as the Dupont. The Dupont are made just like the original Selmer bridges. I have been supper happy with the ones I have. Never once have they not worked.
  You can use them on any guitar. You just have to fit them. Keep in mind the are "blanks". You might have to take off .5mm each side to get it just right. You will have to do the string notches for sure. So don't get bent when it comes "blank". If any of you need a run down on fitting a Dupont let me know. I have done it many times.

  it would be VERY helpful if you could tell us exactly how to fit a dupont. I'm about to buy one, so let me hear all about it (prefered size, tools,etc..). It would be great if you could upload some images (I'm a really visual guy).

  His bridges run about $35US, I think (the site may be out of date), and they're measured and made for your guitar. Mine (and from what I've heard, many others) made a big difference.
