Short scale oval holes and 14 fret short scale d holes

spirospiro Zagreb, CroatiaNew
Guys can you please give me your opinion and experience on these guitars. I never played one, but i believe it is easier to play short scale.

I realized Mazaud guitars are mostly 660mm, anyone played them?

I use a short scale 14 fret dhole quite a bit. Its a Dell Arte hommage. Love it. If you search La Pompe Attack on youtube there's a half dozen or so videos with it. When I play solos every tune I favor my oval hommage.

Are you sure your Hommage has a short scale? The Hommage model is a Favino copy and almost always has the extra long 675mm scale. If yours has a short scale below 670mm then it must be a custom one.

Cool, I've never seen one like that! They did have a Tchavolo Schmitt model at one point that had a Favino body and a short scale so that's pretty similar to what you have.

Mine is solid flamed maple back and sides. I think the Schmidt model was maybe pear wood if i recall with a cedar top.

    Spiro,
Yeah I think the short scales are easier. Most GJ players though are in it partly for the sound of the long scale. Losta spank!

  • I actually find he long scale easier to play in the higher registers as I have large but noot overly long fingers and above F9 the fit is easier if fretting more than one note. I don't find much difference in the lower As I can stretch a major third on either it's just more of a stretch on the long scale
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
