Stuart, Taylor played a Selmer Hawaiian from the '30s, which was just a variation of the Selmer-Maccaferri d-hole. I'm guessing he bought it at the Selmer store in Charing Cross, the same store where Peter Green bought his famous Les Paul.

I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.
If I recall correctly, Nuages was the largest selling LP in Europe during the war. Hence my comment about market share. I doubt much was getting outside of continental Europe at the time.
