Not looking for the true gypsy guitar sound but a bit closer than bronze 80/20 can give me. By default I'll puit on some LaBella silk and steel as I use on my smaller and older guitars.
I've never actually tried GJ strings on my Martin before getting GJ guitars. I was tempted but read a bunch of posts that basically said it wouldn't do...and many folks said the sound was awful. Sorry to presume!
If Michael still carries the Newtones, I think they would be well worth trying on your Martin, I tried em on theDunna no the sounded almost overloaded on the top and the neck took on a rather unsettling amount of curve. Took em off after about 10 minutes I was so worried. Next time I order I'm going to try them on my old 48 Harmony Archtop and my flattop
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

I usually run bronze 12's.
I don't know how will it sound on your guitar but those are my favorite strings ever for my Ivanovski.
