Seems to me that there's some discrimination against us Southern folks as there are no gatherings anywhere near us!!! What's wrong with Charlotte, Asheville, or Atlanta, or better yet somewhere in SC! There used to be something near Asheville at Warren Wilson College but it seems to have vanished.
@scot back me up here!

Start one!
My former teacher at UNC-Greensboro (and, yes, a few hours - but not Atlanta!) has encouraged me to get there and play - hoping to tour the south next year. In the mean time, seek out Mr. Scott Wise. A legend in the Django community; and resident of those parts. . . If you do a festival, please let me know - I'd be happy to help (and really happy to perform!)
Our schedules conflict so we haven't been able to get together. He lives in Charlotte which is very close and would be a great place to have a DjangofestSE. Greensboro is a cool place as well with lots of cafes and such.
@jonpowl Asheville would also work very well and they do have some GJ players. Great places to play up there as well.
College campuses in all those cities.
I'm just thinking there's probably enough interest to have a smaller scale DIJ somewhere in SE.
I went college for a year at Montreat, basically Black Mountain because that's where Zeke and Wiley Morris,
of "Salty Dog" fame lived. Warren Wilson College is known for such gatherings and its dedication to music.
Met Mike Seegar there in the 70s.
Now if someone could get some clout behind this we could have something next summer!
