  Thanks guys. Yeah Will I use the metronome obviously but the backing track is really just a metronome with some harmonic structure. I really just need major, minor, dominant in various keys.

  I love playing with BIAB, but it kind of spoils me, cause when I do a gig without a rhythm guitar suddenly I'm having to play both lead and rhythm...

  Maybe get BIAB to have the rhythm guitar drop out for four bars of an eight bar loop and trade fours with yourself lead vs rhythm.
  
  You could even do that on your own without BIAB or anything else, record it and listen for critique. Maybe try two bars inside/two bars outside on the lead section. Or two bars pompe two bars up the neck chord solo.
  
  But I know what you mean, a playalong or program or metronome cant do your listening for you, cant make you record yourself and honestly evaluate and it can't make you feel structure in static harmony.

  Hey!
  I've noticed nobody mentioned Sammy Daussat's Gypsy Station Pro app, it's for Android and iOS, pretty similar to iReal pro but gypsy.
  It has some issues, specially that loops seem to work odd on my phone, but it might be due to my phone's hardware.
  Anyway if you got a tablet or Archon and run it as a chrome app you can use it to make your own backing tracks for practice, the soundbank is pretty decent and you can control what you play over to.

  I think this is Android only. But after my initial excitement, it subsided when I realized it's only a guitar track, no bass. The guitar track sounds decent on the demo though.

  Yes, it's android only. Couldn't find it for iOS.

  BIAB +1 Its the only way to do it with complete control short of having your own band.

  Is BIAB sound quality improved with the latest versions?
  
  I mean the version of BIAB I used to have, compared with the current iReal Pro, the iReal Pro sound is as good or better with 10% percent of the learning curve at 10% of the BIAB price.
