I just an el cheapo Chinese made gig bag with slim foam between the cordura and the inner nylon. I think I paid maybe $35 bucks 10 years ago and though it looks a bit tatty with fabric pulls and such still works just fine.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
I've had one for an openback banjo for around 15 years. It's been through any number of festivals, plus countless gigs, and is still in great shape. Very well built, very tough, with lots of pockets and the super convenient and comfy backpack straps...
It's so rare to find something so well made these days.
No gigbag will protect as well as a foam case, but if you're reasonably responsible with how you set it down (and where you set it down), a gigbag this sturdy ought to be just fine.
They're great for those of us living in a city. I gig about twice a week outside of my dayjob. There is a difference between carrying my AJL case and using the polyfoam in terms of convenience. I'm not sure if I'd make the investment for a short term event. That being said, the Wolfpak has been rock solid for me.
A lot of people just leave guitars out all the time between classes and jams at DiJ.
By taking it in and out you'd lose several precious minutes of playing time each day.
I agree with Tubaphone.
I bought a Boulder soft case from Michael a number of years ago and it’s served me very well.
Survived many trips with absolutely no damage to my guitar.
Definitely worth every penny!
