Yeah, his version of the head plus his accompaniment behind Stephane is amazing.

I don't like to choose. I have not heard one mediocre performance by Django. All his solos are mind blowing. And then you hear different takes of the same song and they are so radically different the song is completely different(in a good way).

But nevertheless here are the ones I listen to a lot these days:

    L'Oiseaux des iles
    Tweltfth Year
    Them There Eyes
    Shine
    Rose Room
    After You've gone
    My Blue Heaven

But as I said, every solo Django ever played was great. He was really something else...

I gave a listen to "To Each His Own" from 1949, and it's up there, along with Ou Es, I surrender dear and La Mer from the same sessions.

Favorite solo's, well, just about anything from the 1949 Rome sessions. My all time favorite is Django's solo on "Improvisation on Tchaikovsky's Pathetique Andante". Everytime I hear it I'm just about in tears.

    Aside from that...

    Coquette
    Echoes of France
    Impromptu
    Deccaphonie
    Vamp

    Hey Rimm,

Did you ever transcribe that version of Swing guitars?

Ditto what Gonzalo said about the rhythm!! Awesome!

I was going to vote for this one (Dark Eyes version).

I've been transcribing that Swing Guitars solo this weekend. Great solo.

    Hey Jkaz,

Post it if you don't mind after you get it done (if you write up the tab). I'd like to do it myself but working on Mabel right now and plus sometimes I get lazy :-)

    Thanks!

Hi, am new to this forum. My favourite django is Seul ce Soir for the feel and approach more than technical reasons. Also World is Waiting for the Sunrise has a great swinging solo.

Sure. I'm not exactly sure about how to notate certain timing, so I'm giving it my best shot. I'm also trying a program to help me do it, so it is a little slow going. I'm done with the first pass through the form, so I'm thinking I'll be done this weekend if I don't have any gigs or major home events happening.
