OK, Jay, was back to the salt mines all afternoon. I can now keep up with the changes at up to 270 bpm. That's the good news.

The bad news is that the faster the tempo, the more I rely on pre-learned phrases. I suppose that's natural to some degree.

but if anybody has some wonderful insights about how to really improvise freely at fast tempos, I'm all ears...
