  • Django's version of Honeysuckle Rose is pretty great. I've gotten quite a bit out of his solo (and solos in general) as etudes for practice. I'd spend some time with this one in particular. Personally, I practice the few solos I know by rote with just a metronome once I have the phrasing down pat.

    I'm looking forward to it myself. I immerse myself in all the modern players and have to keep reminding myself to return to the source!
  • I've done virtually no transcriptions of modern players, unless you count some lick mining from RA. I figured I'd get about 10-15 Django solos under my fingers before I start moving on. For the most part, I've been learning and practicing these with 2 fingers. Honeysuckle Rose unlocked some things for me on the fretboard...that is using two fingers.
