All my irritation moments are in there: picking too close to the neck, no rest strokes, using blues licks that are not idiomatic to Django style... meh.
He seems like a nice guy though, I give him that. And you know what? If I was in his shoes I would probably do the same for a paycheck which in that case is probably significant.
Get to play guitars on cam for money? Heck yes! Considering 99% of those who watch the videos are probably clueless of how gypsy jazz should sound it really isn't that big of a deal... to the 99%.
To the 1% however... I think I mentioned that. Now, back to that post-war Django.

It doesn't bother me that he played some blues riffs on a Sel-Mac. I actually like seeing these guitars used for more than just gypsy jazz. They are great and versatile guitars, so why not? Adrian Holovaty has done a series of finger-style pop tunes on You Tube on his Gitane, and I love them. I have always hated flat-tops, and thought I would never own a steel-string acoustic, and then I discovered that gypsy guitars were still being made and was hooked! I love the sound of them, the feel of them, and the look of them. And if The Boss pulls one out on stage and plays his music on it, I'll be delighted. Mick Taylor recorded his slide stuff for the Stones on a Selmer Hawaiian, and I think it's great! It's all good.
That said, that skinny pick (at least it sounded skinny), his picking style, and those strings (way too new sounding for my taste) did not flatter that guitar, and that WAS painful to watch.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.
