It’s been said, but I think Django would have used 11’s had the been available.. when I originally heard that Django liked low action and light strings, I assumed that he was trying to cut corners. I believe that this was just me projecting. After jamming with duved at dfnw this summer, I realized that 11’s were ideal for playing super hard. I’ve never heard anyone make the guitar get as loud as he did. He hammered on those 11’s with a massive pick and got a great Django sound. Anyway, just some thoughts.

Django's fast runs have a staccato sound, which given his strength probably means the action was on the high side.
