A quick video I put together attempting to play Stochelos solo on "After You've Gone" at Stochelo speed. Did two takes to compare, and then a take at the end trying to improvise at his tempo.

Becoming warmed up to play this took an hour of uninterrupted practicing on this song.

This is just a temporary video I did for this forum and for The Rosenberg Academy to get some feedback and critique on my playing. I try to do regular updates to monitor my progress and document my journey for my own analysis and I share it in case anyone want to see how my playing is developing :)

@kevingcox , you are so right IMO .......go back to slow relaxed ...tension is the enemy of speed........with a high speed all out relaxed push not worrying about mistakes, once a day, just to get the feel.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed

My project for October is "I Love You". Here is my first take:

At the end of the month, when I have had time to practice Stochelos solo enough I will do a take on that too, as well as another one for improvisation.

I would also like a moderator to change the title of this thread to "My progress in jazz manouche" since it no longer is only about the tune "My Blue Heaven" but I decided to use it as a thread to document my progress in general, so I don't clutter up the forum with many threads. Better to have just one :)

Whoa, nice Amund! Thanks for the post. Is that his solo or yours?

That is my own attempt at improvising on the tune. I'm still working hard on learning Stochelos solo.
