I think I am going to be there, not sure though. I may just be there for the end concert. What is it like? I've never been.

    What's it like?
I see it like if this was back in 60s and if you're a Beetles fan and you're brushing shoulders with John Paul George and Ringo the whole week, watch them play, take lessons from them and possibly jam with them.
    And then some.

After all these years (2007 to now, only missed 2008), for me it's become more of a matter of having the chance to reunite and jam with old friends and make new ones. The artists are a bonus.

I just registered. Hoping it will be a blast. Also hoping to get to hear and play a lot of different guitars and compare them to mine.

I'm thinking of going, however, I'd like to get some Djamin under my belt before I go. I'm in Austin Tx. and don't know of any Gypsy Jazz guitar players "available" to play. Heck, I'd pay for the opportunity to jam with players of experience.....

Are you or do you see yourself as more of a beginner?
There's official slow jamming group but also guys spontaneously organize themselves per their abilities.
Even if you find yourself "out of place" in a jam, majority of people are very forgiving and will embrace the effort.

With respect to improvising I'd say I'm a solid beginner. Theory has eluded me, or should I say I have no idea how one can take theory and convert it to ideas on the fret board instantly. However, I am not a beginning player. I just feel the need to play with others before committing to the trip. I don't mind feeling like the fool, just would like to prepare as much as possible.

  • Well @ JHB you are quite right about taking theory and converting it to ideas ......takes time and experience
