Argentine improvement?

Maybe it's just me, but have Argentines gotten more durable? I've played maybe 8 gigs with same set of strings with only the G showing a little wear. In times past I was lucky to get a couple of gigs out of them.

Noticed the same, but attributed it to adjustments in technique and switching from wegen pick (hard, clicky) to the dunlop gators (softer, presumably less harsh on the strings). But that was just a guess, it hadn't occurred to me that there might have been any changes in the manufacturing of the strings. I almost never break strings anymore.

Interesting - me too - I thought it was my new guitar that was easier on them.

I still use Wegen 3.5 so that's not it! I've been using Peche and thought that was it. I have adjusted my pick grip a little but still feel I hit 'em pretty hard. I'm the past I've had the G wear out in a few hours worse than mine is now after all these gigs.
Interesting and happy to know something's increasing longevity!

Yeah me too. I used to wear the windings thru really fast. Not anymore.

Let's not make too much noise or management will make them change back to the old method to keep sales up ...

Haha! Agreed @Wim Glenn I really meant to say Argies sound better but longevity sucks.

I think they have been fine since the introduction of the "New concept", but that must have been ten years ago. How old is this thread? Before that, what a misery it was! The best proof in the world that everything wasn't better before.

This is within the past year I've noticed improvement.

I'm not sure but I'd say within the last 2-3 years. I noticed that I used to go thru the 3rd strings really fast. Then it got where I could leave them on for a long time and not wear completely thru the windings. I thought maybe I was just using a lighter touch or some change like that but who knows.
