It could be old age, guys...We've all been on this forum a while now, and none of us are getting any younger Ah the many strings I broke in my youth! They never saw it coming. Now those were the days! When a player's worth was measured by the girth of his right forearm, his only reward a pile of twisted, broken steel, kicked out of the way under his chair at the end of a gig.

Jon, isn't player's worth measured still like that? At least I measure it like that haha.
I wish you guys hadn't brought this up! My G strings only last a couple of days, the Ds not much longer, and I am not exactly young. Or maybe I still have that punk rock hammer of a right arm, don't know.
I know! When I first started GJ I'd break a string every gig. No lie, I once broke EVERY string. I was busking and hitting to hell out of it, but still! As I recall, Django broke strings all the time, which always made me feel better when I caught flack from band members. Mine is also the Peche allowing me to strum lighter.
Maybe I am playing a little quieter but I find my strum is looser faster and while having a good bark still much easier on the strings. I go maybe 30 hours before the backside grooves affect the intonation enough that I have to change them.
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
