I disagree. That's not la pompe at all. That's american swing played the american way (and there's nothing wrong with it)

What's the difference? I thought American/Western Swing was simply that it doesn't have an upstroke which I think I hear him playing.

Eps, yeah kinda cool but def not pompe and there are big differences between American/western swing and GJ rhythm. It's been discussed a LOT. Just search the forum (use the search tool) and you'll get more info than you need to get up to speed on this topic.
