I take it that you meant to say something like "I haven't heard it without a soundport" the way I tested mine was simply to cover the port with my left hand and strum the open strings. When I do that I definitely notice a decrease in volume and bass response.

Whoops, yeah... For some reason this happened to me a few times recently where my responses are getting truncated. Will give it a shot today
