Ha! Look at that, it's on the home page. I always wondered if those bday announcements are accurate. Well there you. Thank you guys!
Thanks Mike, I appreciate it. I'm just addicted to this stuff, that's all.
Will, Krivo is a magnetic pickup, made by Jason Krivo. He says he doesn't pot his pickups by design. He says that way they pick up some acoustic sound by leaving them microphonic. K&K makes mostly piezzo contact pickup systems.
Thanks again you both, someday we'll raise a glass of beer hopefully.
Hi Mike, I think the Godin Kingpin has some nice character and can be very useful for GJ, although more of an electric tone. As stated, it’s not a great acoustic guitar being all laminated, but that helps it excel as an electric guitar.
I bought one recently thinking I would Replace the pick ups, but I’d rather like the stock pups and am sticking with them for now.
I can send you a quick demo on my blues Junior if you’d like.
I decided not to buy the 5th Avenue. The intonation was good & for an archtop, I thought it had a nice sound unplugged. But when I played it through the Blues Jr (both with the K & K pickup and my Krivo Djangobucker), the sound was a bit too thin for my tastes. I couldn't thicken it up with the amp EQ settings. The guying selling it told me that he runs it through an EQ pedal, but I'm a "straight through the amp" player. For me, the less knobs to fool with the better. I imagine the ones with the P-90 wouldnt have this issue. But I really appreciate everyone's help here. This is a valuable forum.
