Thanks for letting us know this sad news. I also was only a distant digital fan, but what a SUPERB guitarist and musician! I always admired the way Jon channeled Tchavolo in his playing. I'm sorry I never got to see him in person. RIP...thanks for making our community a better place.
I have uploaded a 2+ hour concert of Jon with quartet recorded in Hobart, Tasmania (my then home town) back in 2011. Plenty of Sarane Ferret tunes... enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y-nf1cz61I
Started watching and got hooked after a few minutes so I have downloaded the whole two-and-a-half hours to watch this evening. Great set list, lots of fave tunes so I will look forward to seeing how Jon played them.
Enjoy! The video is a bit grainy (not much light on the musicians, bright wall behind) but could maybe be cleaned up further by someone with appropriate video massaging tools - not me though! If someone wants the raw files to work further on, drop me a line on tonyrees49 [at] gmail.com ... the sound is pretty good, although you ideally need headphones or an outward link to some external speakers to get the bass end (not much double bass on my little PC speakers, fine on headphones).
The first time I ever saw Jon Delaney was at Samois festival. He was the first jammer I saw when I walked into Samoreau campground in 2016. Stood there watching him for about an hour. Then later that day watched him jam with Wim? and Adrien. That was my favorite memory from that visit. Loved his Tchavalo style influence, which I am trying to do also. Latcho Drom Jon.
Really sad news. I discovered Jon's playing through youtube and was very moved by his playing - I wanted to reach out to him and in my search for a contact I discovered this thread. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. I am sure his music will continue to inspire many others like me for the years to come
Re visiting this thread and going back to listen to Jon's recordings... also great to be introduced to Tomi K. another great guitarist from Finland. Their Si tu vois ma mere is beautifully done.
Does anyone know Jon's back story and how his playing is a wonderful mix of his own with a heavy dose of Tchavalo thrown in. Did he study with Tchavalo?

Thank you Tony - this live video is a great complement to listening to Jon's CDs.
