The tailpiece is not to my taste but everything else looks beautiful. I like the black tuners. Good work!

    I like the tailpiece, actually.

    Great looking guitar!!

    Curious what it sounds like?

Curious to what the weight is, and how you might expect the torriffied wood to break in over time (as opposed to a regular spruce top)?

Thanks for your kind words, @bbwood_98 !

The total weight of the finished guitar is 3.6 lbs.

Regarding the torrefied top, the general consensus is that a torrefied soundboard closely replicates the cellular structure of an aged guitar.

My understanding is that torrefied wood is also more resistant to swelling or shrinking when exposed to humidity and/or environmental changes.

Mark Dalton of 'Premier Guitar, wrote: "Not only does a torrefied top offer greater stability and tone, the thermo-curing process dramatically speeds up the natural aging of wood that results in a vintage-looking, golden-caramel hue."

I agree with these sentiments. How will it change over time...? That's a good question. My estimate is that the changes (if any) would be slight in comparison to a non-torrefied top. I'm going to have to build another for myself to better gauge these changes.

As for a recording, I'm hoping Jim will send one over as I failed to record her before shipping off. Jim has had great things to say about the instrument and after a few days in the hands of his teacher, Mark had the following to say:

    Cheers again!

@whitneyguitars - yes, the weight makes a lot of sense to me - in the range that I consider perfect!

Thanks for your thoughts on the torrified woods.

Guitar looks great, again, and I think likely sounds great too, phenomenal work again! Can't wait to check one our someday!

    Congrats!

Cheers again, @bbwood_98 really appreciate it.

My pleasure. I agree with your comments on the weight.

The French polish (while not for everyone) helps to keep a bit of the weight down as well. Jim comes from the classical world, isn't 'gigging' and requested a nice light finish on the guitar. The top, back and sides were polished to a gloss and the neck pore-filled but finished to a satin finish.

^That would be great! Perhaps one day we'll cross path and work together. Keep well and happy playing!
