Got my old guitar back from the workshop today. A big hole had to be drilled into the tailpiece for the microphone jack socket, I could not do this myself. The guitar is a little bit louder now because of the different string angle to the bridge. Only thing is that aging the tailpiece did not work, there is some coating that does not accept the treatment.

I tried to use a felt tip pen, but that doesn't work that good either. Have to think about alternative ways to change the "brassy" look.

That's the whole family now in their brandnew outfits:

... and don't forget cousin Archie:

Your mystery guitar looks much better with Selmer style tailpiece to me. Before, when I would see it, I'd think "a guitar" not I think "a selmer copy without the cutout". There's round hole too but they built a few like that themselves.

Didn't mention the most important change (swapped tailpieces because I had expected this result): less sympathetic ringing now, more dry sound!

@Willie what a great setup. How do you like Cousin Archie? I've been tossing around the idea of buying a used Epiphone like this one but haven't spoken to anyone who owns one.

Epiphone Emperor Regent 1994. A great guitar, I love the loud but mellow acoustic sound with flatwounds.

Volume/tone controls removed? Typically they're mounted to the pickguard on that model, I believe?

Those are the run made in the Peerless factory, if memory serves. That's one of the options I'm weighing for my future archtop. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, removed the pickguard with the knobs and the frequensator tailpiece.

As far as I know, the newer Emperors have an all laminate body, while the older ones have a solid top.

Good to know about the solid top 👌

Two little recordings of my old french guitar, just to demonstrate the sound (really not my skills):

Recordings of the Altamira will follow.
