Hi,
Very interesting reading... Does anyone actually know with what company Mr Marshall would produce the movie or if he has a production company of his own, etc ??
: how many average moviegoers had ever heard of T.E. Lawrence, prior to 1962, when David Lean brought his story to the big screen?
Quite a lot, I think. Perhaps almost unknown in the US, he was quite famous in Europa during his lifetime already.
He was, after all 'Lawrence of Arabia' and, a.o., advisor to Winston Churchill
Yes, in England he was well known as a man of letters as well as a respected, albeit somewhat controversial national icon. But in the U.S., prior to Lean's film, there was no interest- which was my point about making a serious film about Django- many who are currently unaware of his existence may develop an interest in the man, his people, history and, most important, his contribution to music.
