From this, it looks like Daniel Nevers thinks "Valse Manouche" (Choti), is actually by Sarane Ferret from the early 40's:-
    Integrale Vol 20

I have a copy of Integrale Vol 20 without a booklet or track listing but it's Track 19, CD2.

I'd like to read the liner notes to read Nevers reasoning and I will withhold judgement until I read them, nevertheless, I'm more than surprised.
Me too but the date makes more sense. Some of Nevers judgements in the past have been very questionable. However, I am becoming increasingly convinced it is not Django. I just cannot believe he would have ever played anything so rigid and unbending.

What about Dregni's point that the recording might possibly have been made for the purpose of transcribing the piece for publication in sheet music form??....that would explain the 'rigidity' and the over strict timekeeping.
On the subject of the Django waltzes i'm coming round to the idea that they ARE by Django--according to Dregni Matelot approached Naguine to suggest titles for the waltzes which didn't have titles
--if thats true surely thats some evidence that the waltzes WERE by Django-why would have Naguine have agreed to this unless she acknowleged that the pieces were Django's own work and not Matelot's???
    Just thinking aloud....
