Soundsample of cheap Aria MM-10

bluetrainbluetrain Finland✭✭✭ Cach, Epiphone Triumph, Gibson ES-300
Hi!

Here's a little sound sample ("All of me") of what a cheap gypsy guitar Aria MM-10 (D-hole model) sounds like. Strings area bit worn out argentines (11s).. I raised the bridge a little with small plectrum pieces and dampened the strings behind the bridge with a tape. With these modifications is sounds pretty good to me even though I haven't had the luxury of playing a better gypsy guitar yet. If I had I'd probably say this sounds horrible :)

I recorded this with Zoom H4 and put a little EQ on it (-8dB on 130Hz) to make the bass a bit lower. The guitar resonates a bit too much around low C-note.

You are a great musician, but I have to say, the audio track sounds wonderful, but thats the world record for rhythm guitar embellishments per minute... The rhythm sounds like it was laid by a lead guitar player.

That track is a great example of why it is fortunate that some people specialize in rhythm guitar, in order to avoid this kind of sound.

Thanks for the complement! Maybe I got a bit too excited playing the rhythm part :) There's so much to learn.. but maybe that's the thing that makes us practise. Did you like the sound at all?

the guitar it self, sounds cheap and to be honest it doesnt have that gypsy sound.. but thats ok its a cheap guitar.

you are a good soloist but i dont think rhythm is your gift atleast not at the moment.

    but overall

    Quality of instrument: 4/10

    Quality of Musician 7/10

    keep practicing

Nice playing! I second Djangology's comments about rhythm, just drop the effects and make it plainer but swinging
You could benefit a lot from Denis Chang's DVDs, all five of them.
Your guitar sounds fine if you get a better one you'll sound even better but i thought it was pretty good.

Damn.. I really need to start practicing more. Hopefully I can buy a Gallato RS 1939 next month so then I would have a real guitar on my hands. Last summer I was lucky to try Andreas Öbergs AJL-guitar here in Tampere when he was performing here and the guitar was amazing.. really felt that I wasn't even playing.. the guitar played itself! This Aria gives me these feelings that it's playing me instead of me playing it! haha.. same feelings?

Yeah, work on your rhythm it's really important and really difficult, takes a lot of time and work.

The good news is that if you can make your Aria sound good that means it comes from your hands and you'll be able to make almost any guitar sound good.

the sound and feel of your rhythm playing is quite good from the audio recording.... but you need to stop doing those effects!! once in a while in key sections is ok but just listen to a bireli CD and you'll get an idea of what the rhythm section should be like...

Holy crap! I'm not ever posting an MP3 here if people can find fault with yours, bluetrain. I thought your rhythm playing kept it lively and moving right along. Liked the energy!
I agree it didn't have a real gypsy jazz sound to it, more of a ragtime type sound, maybe that's the issue. I liked it none the less.

Why do they call it a rest stroke......I get tired every time I try playing like that.
