    Hey, I found a solution to the bassiness.. I ripped the two bottom strings away totally :D No bassiness anymore!

    Lighter gauge strings would cut the bass or maybe the silk and steel with their low tension would also.

    Another tip to get a better sound using your cheap guitar: take your Aria, go to a Thomas Dutronc's concert. Find a dark angle you can hide behind. When Dutronc passes, hit him in the head with your Aria, then take his Selmer n.566 and run.
    Voilà! No bassiness! :D

    Leave the Aria, take the cannoli...

    I'll bet I could take Dutronc's Selmer and make it sound just like the Aria.
