..... This post only addresses the fairgrounds portion of the DFNW experience!!!! This was the best fairgrounds jamming and comradeship I've had in six visits! Two metal fire pits lighting up Friday night w/Eleven guitars, violin, clarinet, and upright bass! Fine session. Rhythm guitars in tune and playing soft to accompany solos for two hours at least and finally ending at 3:00 am. A couple campers had dry canopy areas to play under as we had rain coming in saturday night at 1:30 am. However, we moved the overflow players down into one of the empty animal barns with benches sat. night w/lights - thanks to Jeff from Prescott AZ for arranging that capability with the maintenance man!
.....Jim (jTAG) from Tacoma led a fine jam at his RV and rain canopy and Joe supplied another cover also - Thanks!
...... Ray (guitar) and Nancy (violin) from Boseman Montana played some good licks and Ray got the "bug" for a GJ guitar (he was playing a 1935 Gibson LO w/ the "v" shaped neck/nice) and bought SN 12 Holo guitar (Sept. '08) Fine choice for a player focused on rhythm.
......Josh (bellingham) and john (guitar/songwriter) played some of their composed tunes - very good stuff!
.......Good to see John (flute/homemade Bass flute) and John (guitar) again from Juneau AK! Great Folks! Ranger (violin) and dad Michael (guitar) and Jeff (persussion), Todd (bass) of "Ranger & the ReArrangers - Bainbridge Island WA were also at hand. My guitar buddy Darin was also playing strong! John Van Birk again contributing great guitar work, bass and even some accordian at the Edgecliff restaurant & bar! Nathan and daughter Chelsea (sp?) present again and Nathan took the time to teach a newbie (jerramy) the basics of rhythm. We had a good hour session.
......I apologise for the many new players whose names I can't recall now, but given another year will be able to highlight - many good players!
......Comedy Highlite of the Jam! - Asian Jim having his roast beef sandwich (one bite) snatched out of his hand by a sneakly little shelty (sp) dog who sprung up like a "jack in the box" Jim says: "Whose dog is this that stole my sandwich"? What an expression on Jim's face!! Owner Michael says: "Oh, did you drop your sandwich"!
......Anyway, a great time was had by all! Next year I'll be there the first day on Wed. Such a great gathering of campers to set the foundation for the whole DFNW experience!Q
......See you next year, Jam On, Rocky
