Gee sounds a lot like the US. Only here it started with the KKK and the blacks, now the group du jour is the latino immigrants. This racist finger pointing stuff makes me sick.

As I've said elsewhere, the darkness is descending across Europe once again.

Once liberal Sweden is voting in fascist parties. In Britain, they've elected the fascist BNP to the European parliament, have cleared Gypsy sites in London in preparation for the Olympics, and are trying to disperse communities of travelling boatpeople, whilst the Lib/Con government plan to make it harder than ever for travellers to get planning permission for sites. Italy is forever evicting Roma, and the Hungarian president has suggested building concentration camps. I could go on.

Worrying? Terrifying might be more like it.

Yep, when the going gets tough in the European world, the old scapegoats (Jews and Gypsies) get picked on. Shame on Sarkozy. Being half Jewish, he of all people should know that "There but for the grace of God go I".

The corporate kleptocracy that is running the world loves seeing scapegoats persecuted. It keeps attention off of them.

Being that I can't change things, I'm going to work on doing faster triplets.

    Cheers to all,

as far as i´m concerned, this is again more of the "blame it on the weakest link" expedient and a cynical political manouvre.
there are several gypsies - iberian kale, that is, not sinti, romanichel or eastern rom - living in my home town (braga, portugal) and they are blamed periodically for the problems going on, be it "drugs", "crime", "insecurity" or even "deterioration of sanitary conditions". it´s almost totemic, they are too easy to blame.

posted before reading your post. yes, it´s scapegoating. but it´s a - so to speak - digestible scapegoating of sorts. populism tends to explore what´s already there to be explored in the first place, as you´ve stated.
but it´s even worse than that, because people know that these gypsy populations can not defend themselves and don´t have a political institution (in the form of a nation / state or other) to back them up. so it´s kind like beating up the little blind guy - you tend to win when your opponent can´t defend himself. so Sarko is also showing of as a powerful head of state, a man who has the will, the determination and the power to clean up the mess and purify the sate and all that. this will gain him a few extra centimeters, i´d suppose. kudos for that.

as for jews being scapegoats in europe, nowadays, it doesn´t seem like that at all. at least that i remember of. even the vatican has good relations with the jewish community. besides, most jews are already out of europe (there is only one million of them in the EU, scattered between france, UK, germany, spain and the nederlands, mostly). anyway, sorry for the derailing...

those are wise words, my friend.

    Cheers,
    Miguel.

Yeah, same old tricks. Nothing new under the sun, in the US or Europe, I guess.

As soon as the economy gets bad for the working class, the ruling elite (read: fascist wanna-be) start to point the finger at some small, marginalized, minority group to deflect the blame from themselves and to try to grab more power.

As if the gypsies in France or the Mexican imigrants in the US are responsible for this crap-fest that Wall St. and the world bankers have made of the global economy.

I'm surprised anyone still falls for all this BS anymore after how many times they have used this tired old line of crap.

"Changing things" and "faster triplets" needn't be separate choices. The music we study is very evocative and emotional. Writing lyrics that that point to the changes you want will add poignancy to your triplets. Win, Win.
You don't have to segregate your actions in the usual way if you don't want to.
To do noting can be depressing or suicidal. Better to try and fail or even succeed!
We're lucky, many of us have at least a small audience. Deported Gypsy's, not to mention millions of others, don't.
