Drew will be missed

Drew passed yesterday. I don't know the details, though perhaps at this time, those details are less important than the details of what he did for GJ in America. You may not have known him, but if you have attended a Djangofest, then rest assured, he made a contribution to your happiness.

Drew was the Djangofest 'Fixer' ... the grease ... the problem solver ... if you ever wondered who drove to the airport to pick up a musician whose flight had been bumped to arrive at some obscene hour... if you ever wondered who made sure that people and equipment and food and music got from point "A" to point "B" without anyone having to worry about it happening... that was Drew too. He was Nick's right hand in pulling off all the myriad details required to make sure that a whole lot of musicians speaking a whole lot of languages were able to come in and do their thing; namely - to bring joy and music to all the rest of us. He did all of this and more with humor and with a whole lot of class.

Rest well.

Wow, this is really sad. Drew had a huge heart and not a bitter bone in his body....everyone in the community is going to miss him greatly.

oh my god. this is terrible news. i had many great moments with Drew as he was a fellow friend of Bill W and just an awesome person to talk to and get along with and was looking forward to hanging with him at DFNW this year.

this is very sad. what a great man to lose. many may not have known of Drew's skills as a wood carver and maker of pacific northwestern indian totems. a very unique man who had seen and done a whole lot in his day.

i will miss you brother.

What a good soul. Last time I was at DFSF I spent some time chatting with him. He will be missed. Has anyone suggested holding a memorial concert for him? Lets ask Nick.

RIP Drew. Your Django-buddies all over miss your enthusiasm and heart; and especially your Marin Django-buddies.
We will play to your memory at the next Hot Club of Marin Jam wishing, as before, that you were there with us. My sympathies go out to all of your immediate family and friends. Thank you for being Drew.
