Pat Phillips is bringing the following line-up to Lincoln Center's
Rose Center, August 1st, 2006

Dorado Schmitt - guitar and violin
Tchavolo Schmitt - guitar (!)
Samson Schmitt - guitar
Ludovic Beier - accordeon
Florin Niculescu - violin
Peter Beets - Piano
Joel Frahm - sax
Brian Torff - bass

If you were at last year's show, you know how fantastic it was! I saw
the show at Lincoln Center and most of the Birdland shows and I can
honestly say Joel Frahm was a killer player who fell right in with the
Gipsies: they loved him and he loved them! Not to be missed!

best,

I think time may be tight for me: I have to bail out of work that day but you never know...

What are the particulars on the Caramoor?

Thanks for the info, Ted - I looked it up and I have a gig that night so I can't go...

but for the those of you who don't (and live in the area):
    http://www.caramoor.org/html/jazz.htm

    2:30 pm Rodney Kendrick Trio
    3:45 pm Ravi Coltrane Quartet
5:00 pm The Joe Henderson Project with Renee Rosnes

    Dinner break

8:00 pm Django Reinhardt Festival, featuring Dorado Schmitt

Sounds like a great time! This *is* in Westchester County (not Long Island).

    Ben,

Are you going to be there for the whole afternoon? I'm taking my father, who's a Django fan from way back. I don't think he'll be too into Ravi Coltrane (although he surprises me sometimes), but I suspect he'll really like Joe Henderson. So we'll probably get there in the mid-afternoon.

    Paul,
yeah- I actually am going to see Rodney Kendrick as well as Tchavolo. Rodney is one of the great jazz pianists of our time, and my wife is friends with him as he's one of her jazz mentors. just an amazing musician actually. So yeah-I'll be there all day.

Methinks Joe has passed on and is swinging choruses with the angel band.

yes Joe Henderson is dead - I assume the Joe Henderson project is a group dedicated to playing his music. Renee Rosnes is a great pianist :)
