I think Romain Vuillemin and Adrien Taraga can sound very Django at times.
Kinda funny how few players in the Django style actually sound like Django very often. Which I think is a good thing...you can have your own style within the style.
Duved Dunayevski is very much in the style of '30s Django, and I believe his group has actually been designated the new Quintette, by the (no kidding!) current Hot Club de France.

2 of my favorites that have some of the elements of Django in their playing:
Bireli Lagrene & John Jorgenson.
For 1947 Django you can't beat Philippe Nedjar - https://youtu.be/Ux5fTUzjG28?si=W_IeJzqLNFY__nRg&t=83
and for early Django - Duved Dunayevsky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hagTsNFehiY
For the best Django covers - without a doubt Antonis Arfanis https://www.youtube.com/@AntonisArfanis/videos
Have you guys heard of Tico Rosenberg? Apparently, he’s the teacher of everyone!

The closest of the era IMO, is Oscar Aleman.

For the last century, Joseph Reinhardt
And for this, looks like most of us agree on Duved Dunayevsky.
Yes, I was fortunate enough to get challenged to a 1v1 by him 😄
How did we all forget Emmet Ray on this thread?
Lollo Meier should also be added to the list of one of the more melodic guitarists in this genre.
