I used to love those Tony Rice strings. It was back a long time ago when I didn't have any good guitars and I haven't tried them in forever. Maybe I'll get some.

I have the crazy skin chemistry that kills uncoated phosphor bronze or 80/20 bronze strings in minutes. But monels last forever for me. I even liked them on mandolin back when I played that. To me they have a lot of fundamental which doesn’t always sound great in a quiet solo setting, but it works well in a jam.
Serious question, is there a name for that? I have a friend who does that.
When I worked in NYC fixing basses there was one guy who could only use plastic coated upright strings because he could kill a $120 set of strings in like 45 minutes...they would normally do a decade....
