This thread is getting long winded but I'll add one more post. You don't need the "vip" carlos system. The Carlos Sensor CS is $250 and you can either surface mount it or have your luthier mount it inside your guitar to the endpin jack. The people I've heard use the Carlos only use the sensor. Played with a guy with one the other day and his tone sounded WAY more acoustic than mine (I was using the Kleio). So I guess you got a few choices now. Good luck
There are 2 versions of the Ischell. The X48 you mentioned uses a special XLR cable, and I believe that one does require phantom power. The other version with the "Inside Box" doesn't need phantom power - the box itself has a coin cell battery in it that provides the power. Some preamps provide phantom power, most acoustic amps have some sort of phantom power, and most mixers can provide it.
