I do think Joscho’s sound is great and makes me tempted to buy his signature guitar. But then I think he would probably sound great on any guitar 😂. If I ever come across one I’ll definitely give it a try
They stopped taking orders, it's filled up. Says they'll do another batch when they catch up with the current orders. It's pretty incredible that he teamed up with a luthier to offer a hand made guitar for under $2K, very cool.
I like the way Joscho connects with his audience and the other musicians. He is a great performer and entertainer. He is very precise, I liken him to a finely tuned BMW. Personally I prefer the French players like Angelo. A little more funky, more like a Peugot.
that guitar is a signature guitar for his academy and is made by a different luthier. The luthier (from what I can tell) doesn’t have any experience of making this style of guitar before this so I personally wouldn’t buy it. The guitar I was talking about is the one he is most commonly seen playing made by volkert guitars. I think the model is like sw40 or something like that. I quite like the sound and look of the diknu scheenberger signature guitar also made by the same luthier so I would probably get that if I wanted a guitar made by that luthier.
Most who criticize Joscho are nowhere near his level of playing!!!! Mostly, they're bitter boomers, equivalent to "I only play with tone (only tube amps) and feel man" in rock guitar, who buy the most expensive guitars, yet haven't amounted to anything musically, and can't get past the pentatonic scale.
Yes, Joscho is definitely a powerhouse in gypsy jazz. Is his playing theoretically simple, sure. But his laser like precision, phrasing and feel, stand him out from the rest.
Stochelo, or the aforementioned Jimmy Rosenberg have been playing same licks for decades. Especially Jimmy; he still plays the same as his early 2000s albums. No one's questioning their authority, so leave Joscho alone.
A very good way to put it. Even the feel aspect I think Joscho has it. When he plays slower songs some of the licks he plays are so melodic it’s really impressive actually.
Ha, absolutely nobody that criticizes Joscho (who would do so publicly at least) is nowhere near his level, are you kidding me!?
And, anybody that had any critique for him, did not miss to offer praise at the same time.
The rest of it I actually mostly agree with. It's not the first time his playing has been a subject of similar topic. And it brings up a question; when people say a player such and such has immediately recognizable sound, what does it mean really?

What is the "kidding" about? Sorry I miss your point.
Nobody who might criticize him is nowhere his level, he's one of the handful on the planet.
So you're basically reiterating my point.
