Both guitars of my band usually play both sets of chords: from the 2008 Fakebook and from the original Gadjodrom chord charts (aka Grilles) together, and both work just fine.
One B or 2 is a common confusion. 2 makes it a very long form.
Sorry for the previous post, I think I was able to get 10 staves in a single page without making it look too crowded. Somehow I couldn't get my old template (from Finale 2007) to work with 10 staves. Re-doing one from scratch with a newer version of the software worked better.
Nope... It just gives you monthly updates of the book, (always the same tunes for this book, but will look for mistakes, better changes, alternate keys, etc.) and the right to ask for changes, including changes of key and edits.
I think when Chris Peterson had started the project, he had made available his musicxml files that are compatible for Finale, Sibelius and certainly more like Noteflight...
I certainly don't want to go in the way of someone who wants to do business with a transcription service here, but since we are on an open forum I should mention that I might have a bunch of those files at home that I'd be happy to share if you are interested.
Let me know.
I'd be great to compare them to those I have. Thanks so much! I am sticking with the tunes in the book at this point, but Any Django tunes would be great. If there are enough other tunes, I could do a second book.
It is probably a good place and time to mention that my friend - Baltimore-based accordion player Sergei Nirenburg - and I have been working on an update -beefed up with more Gypsy Jazz - of the Django FakeBook 2008 that Matt Mitchell had shared with the community.
Sergei is adding some Musette tunes, I've added more straight gypsy jazz tunes; it should be ready very soon
But, since it isn't already completely done yet, I was wondering if some of you had transcribed tunes that aren't in the 2008 version, but that you would like to see in it.
If so, and if you are willing to share them, I would happily include your contributed tune(s) in it.
The version will be transposable in different keys.
If you have some tunes or some notes in any format (tabs, dots or else) that you wouldn't mind sharing, please email me at the email address from the Hot Club of DC website. Thank you!
We're working on this using the iGigBook software that works on iPad.
I haven't thought of another system yet. But if you have some ideas, I'd be happy to see what we can develop.
what's the status on all of these exciting projects posted in this thread? Anyone?
I'm starting my third hot club band (after moving across the country) and figure it's time to go digital (all my other musicians have iPads on music stands). I doubt I have any unique transcriptions to contribute (based on the exhaustive lists posted in this thread), but I'd love to take a look (prior to this I did all the transcribing for my groups).
petersonmusic.com seems to be down and I can't find out anything about it. Joli, did you continue the upgrade to the 2008 book? The ability to transpose to different keys would be amazing!
Looking forward to seeing a new post here, or pm me! Thanks!

I printed off about 20 or so for our new to gj violinist.....great classical player learing to swing
Man the chords on about a third of them are harmonically very odd...to say the least..
If one is going to do a standard fakebook...best not to get too far away from the original
Most of the melodies are ok so far.
