Lol! Well, he was 'Captain Trips' king of the endless mixolydian way before any excursions on my part...but I'll say both!

I took LSD and listened to Django for a while, but all I could smell was Gallouise cigarettes and monkey.

I tend to really hate these sorts of lists because what is the criterion? Technical prowess? Historical importance? Fame? Originality? Emotional content? Influence on subsequent musicians? Type of music played? I mean every qualifier gives you a different list.

That said, I can't think of any qualifier that gives me your list, Thomas. I mean seriously! Tommy Emmanuel? Really? But you are entitled to like who you like, and entitled to think they are the best. And if I put my ten favorites up, probably I'd get the same reaction from you, so let me just shut up now.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.

    Good list.

I'd sneak in there Lenny Breau, Paco de Lucia, Joe Pass, Santana..etc.etc :-)

    Almost forgot: John Mclaughlin!

sorry guys i forgot to mention the criteria. all the guys on my list is based on a mixture of technique, musicality, and inspiring to you.

to the guy who doesn't think Tommy Emmanuel is world class.......Tommy is one of the worlds best fingerpickers. he does some GJ like on his album with frank vignola. He's very versatile, but by far his fingerpicking is what makes him world class.
