wow your comment michael about me wanting to pick a fight?? All I did was posted a top ten favorite guitarist list. You commented I wanted to pick a fight?? I just posted my list and then YOU made the snide comment about Tommy Emmanuel. It's true I'm new to this site and i probally should put Django in my top 10 list after all Tommy Emmanuel is quoted as saying that Django is the best (but he says that about alot of people very humble guy). You say I'm bashing gypsy jazz/??! Look at my top ten list...........2 of the people who are in my top 10 are gypsy jazz players. I posted this list to see who people liked best and to maybe discover guys or girls i never heard of. But honestly after your comment about TE........you're in a losing battle for not even making an attempt to look at Tommy's skills and artistry and not even considering him in top 10. There are many other guys who could have made my top ten. Maybe I should of made it top 20 and everyone would relax!!

other easy top tenners ....................steve vai, paul gilbert, richard smith, michael angelo batio (only for speed and not musicality), angelo debarre, robert conti, jimmy bruno, satch, buckethead......list could go on and on

you also said there are other people in my top ten who you could name off. Tell me who and why they don't deserve to be there. Should be interesting.

@ pinkgary--I should love to try 40 yr. Strathisla! That might be something really special! never had anything above a 35 before.

@slicker--All is well. Will seek Gwen Cahue out ASAP, and agree with you that Hank Marvin was great! Not top ten, but great!

@ThomasGtar--Perhaps Tommybooks.com would be a better site for your evangelism. Oh, there isn't such a place! Your attempt to reignite this argument after I had already apologised for my tone seemingly confirms my initial guess about you. I took the bait once, but not again. You seem to assume you know much about me; too bad you are wrong. You also don't read with much precision. Beyond that, I refuse to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Idolize whom you choose.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.

michael in your apology note you accused me of being a django basher, a new guy looking to provoke a fight who has no respect for GJ, I don't know you nor do you know me. You come across as you think you're intellectually superior to me from your last post and previous ones. maybe it's you who should evangelize elsewhere??

also u say i don't read with much precision. Also you call me dumbwitted. "i refuse to get in a battle of wits against an unarmed opponent." ok so after reading all that's been said and your seemingly morbid attempt to take the high road after the things u say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i too am done posting with you. u can have final say if u want.

one final word........i forgot Jeff Beck! yes I am dumbwitted! suprised no one else mentioned him.

    Final post re this topic...

Thomas, you reaffirm my assertion that you do not read with much precision, since I clearly never said one of those things about you in that post. It wasn't an insult, just an observation. Now can we please just get along? Final FYI, I really like Tommy Emmanuel's playing, just not as a top tenner, okay?

@redblues--Where do you live? We have to get some Woodford Reserve to you. It is incredible bourbon! Agree with you about Knob Creek BTW. Maker's Mark is another favorite.

I'm a malt whisky fan myself, but I'm interested to hear if anyone has ever tried this:

@Michael Living in Ireland, going to get my regular guy to order in a case of Woodford to the shop. I've been secretly eying the bottle of Makers Mark on the top shelf, love that wax style top, you may have tipped me Bauer....The only remaining question is neat or ice?

@klaatu Thanks for the article, unfortunately just don't have the selection here to delve too deeply into the varieties. There is something I just don't trust about buying a glass bottle of liquid online and expecting it to get to your door intact
