Jimmy Raney said "Django Reinhardt"?....thats mandolin music" --hes wrong of course but Raney was a monster player despite that and,funnily enough,his later work(eg "Live in Tokyo" finds him using a pretty strong vibrato rather like Django.
--a lot of those Bebop guitar players were really into Horn players and ignored many of the guitar's tonal possibilties particularly dynamically--Allan Holdsworth has much the same approach today.

Absolutely!--i wasn't disagreeing with you.The Brazilians have a saying 'never trust a man who doesn't like Samba'--well i don't trust anybody who doesn't like Django :-)
