FYI - I owned the gitane wrembel guitar. It had one of the nicest sounds of any gitane I had played (all of them). But a huge drawback is that the wrembel is absolutely the quietest gypsy guitar I have ever heard. I got rid of it for that reason.'
Ok, so... Why doesn't Saga R&D make a better bridge? They MUST read these forums and see what players are saying. It can't be that much of a hassle, can it?
....and some days, you stumble across the Dupont bridge you bought, months ago, that was too tall for your 255, but fits PERFECTLY on your 300!!! Let's see what this does for the guitar.

Keep us posted, Ian.
Hey does your 300 have a real round, baseball bat neck profile,or is it more squarish? I've run across both types on the JJ 300 model
Mine's Round, not really "U" shaped, but really really full .
HOWEVER....
The Dupont bridge has made an ENORMOUS difference in the volume of this guitar!! WOW!! This thing's a cannon all of a sudden!! Way louder than my 255, and considering that yesterday this time, the 255 smoked it for Volume. The Tone's changed too, it's a good bit "Dryer" sounding too,and bright. It's lost some Bass/Lower mid's but the improvement is drastic.
Now what I need is a setup; leveling, dressing yada yada. It's still a fight to play it, so I'm hoping this will be the final key to unlocking it's potential,(save for the year or two it needs to open up). I talked to a local Acoustic Instrument repair Wizard today, and he's clearing a spot in his schedule for me. ( sending it to Tacoma would have been great but between shipping costs, customs, ect, this seems like a better option...No offence Josh.)
Next time I order a Guitar, I'll listen to Michael and Josh and spring for the setup/bridge option they offer, and not be so damned cheap!!
Howdy sir,
you commented on my post about my dg340, which I am loveing by the way, but I play a lot of bebop/gypsyness and I was coming to getting a GJ style guitar from playing a gretsch synchro arch top. All that said, I would say my guiatr is loud and wet. The shop I bought it from profesionally set it up so it sounded sweet when I first tried it out, put some argentines on it and I play with Wegens GP250, it's constantly opening up, but I'm really happy with it. Gets a little singsong with the overtones but if I pick and fret it right I can get that sitar twank Bergara gets. I may get a new bridge eventually but I don't feel like I need it now. What did your stock bridge look like?
Ok...that stock bridge is crap.
TOTALLY,different sounding guitar now.The uglyness is gone, vanished, left the building, replaced by a crisp, sweet, and friggin' LOUD Tone!!!
Why,on Earth, does Saga put that Tonal-Chastity Belt on their Guitars???
My Gitane DG300 has to have a very low bridge for the action to be right due to very little neck angle. Is the Dupont #3 bridge low enough to keep the action playable, or did you have to have the bridge shaved down ?
Based on what you said, I would like to put a dupont bridge on. did you get the rosewood or ebony ?
