@woodamand would like to hear about your new guitar.

Can't say I was aware of Wegen MP100 and 150, it's something I'd like to try.

I have one of the Vpicks @pickitjohn sent me, sounds a little dead compared to my preferred picks.

Waiting for snail mail to deliver my new Djangojazz Romino, wait is killing me.

@Wim Glenn, I guess so - they sound the same as regular Wegens, so if you don't like that sound, well, there you have it. I had Pete try my new one next to a nice tortoise one that Lollo gave him last night at the gig, and while there was a difference (talking out front here, not from behind the guitar, where you often hear these things more keenly) it was very minor. Felt good for the whole gig though, is blunt enough to use straight out of the pack, and is proper durable, which I can't say about any other pick I've tried (though admittedly, my test conditions are pretty harsh...). I'm thinking of getting one of the 2mm ones next. Nice to be able to go thinner but know the pick will last.

That is literally the only problem I have with the Wegens. If they weren't so clicky, I would go back to my collection of them and then I could finally stop buying more picks!

I am sure that Wegen picks deserve all the praise they receive and seem to be the overwhelming favorite. But I sure didn't enjoy mine. Had a hard time getting over the feeling that I was holding a piece of plastic..and I don't care for the ridges. Right or wrong, I wasn't getting the vintage mojo that I was looking for. I had a black one..maybe I would have liked white. Would love to see Wegen evolve by offering other materials.

Blue chips are ridiculously expensive, but the quietest pick I have ever played and my KS 1.5mm shows no sign of wear after several months of an hour or more a day.

Those Blue Chips look great to me. They remind me a great deal of one of my current favorite traditional picks..the Dunlop Primetone:

Would love to see a 2.5-3mm Primetone!

@beenawhile Have you seen these Dunlop Primetones? They are similar to Wegen in size and feel, but definitely not as loud. I like the 3.0 MM round for rhythm.

@beenawhile. I got a 3-pack of those primetone mandolin picks a couple of weeks ago. I love the feel and the tone on single notes. However, for rhythm I find them to be a bit scratchy sounding. Of course, that could be my lame La Pompe technique! I also bought a 3-pack of the same pick but with the grip, and those were even scratchier, so they won't be used at all.

I keep coming back to these picks that I bought months ago: jtspix.com (sorry, I can't figure out how to link that address - I am typing this on my phone). I got the 2mm mandolin pick sampler. They're not perfect, but I find the white material (celcon, I think), to be the best feeling, warmest, least clicky/scratchy sounding pick that I have. I also like the slightly larger size. After I told the guy that I played GJ he never returned my email. He probably thought, "oh god, another one of those obsessive freaks."

I keep buying more picks that don't end up being what I am looking for, so I come back to these JT's picks. If I was going for my favorite feeling pick, it would be a Wegen Fatone, but the click gets to me. If I were to vote my favorite sounding, it's definitely a Gator Grip turned sideways, but I just about wear the first knuckle off my index finger. If Dunlop would make a rounded mandolin pick out of the Gator Grip material, that would be a winner for me.

@alton those JT picks are interesting. I like that the website plays up the durability. What I'm after is a super durable pick that sounds warm, or at least has a bit less of the click as the Wegens...if that exists...

You said they're not perfect - in what respect?
