The front page has probably changed since you wrote this ... but Wim Glenn's interesting "'A-ha!' moments" thread has 10.4K views, though it does have fewer posts. I think this subject's vigor comes from the simple fact that the pick question is one shared by everyone who likes playing this music, whatever their level.

Pretty excited about the pair of Wegen M200s that I picked up in local store yesterday. I never bonded with Wegen's gyspy pick, but these are for me. 2mm, flat surface, and roughed to make it feel good in hand. Apparently a mandolin pick. Also, these are pretty cheap...2 for $15.
