If you're looking for a cheap, vintage guitar, you're probably going to get something that is at best not fun to play, at worst something unplayable. An old guitar usually needs a fair amount of work to play well.

Gallerie Casanova seemed to have a pretty wide variety of stuff, I think they had some older low end vintage gypsy guitars, but I think they sell stuff that's well maintained, so the prices are going to be higher than something that just came out of someone's attic.

I didn't consider it exclusively high end, their prices seemed appropriate for what they had.

I was told there are a million low end Selmerish guitars floating around Paris and they are super cheap but finding one that is fun to play is maybe difficult.

to be honest i think i am trying to go for a second hand handmade guitar like dupont nomade for example. They are probably more worth than the chinese ones

The Nomade is a great shout - but there’s really nothing wrong with the Chinese guitars either. What country are you from?

greece man, i am just thinking that a used nomade may be better compared to other chinese guitars like altamira that i am also considering

Risto Ivanovski will build you one for not much more than a used Nomade. He's in Skopje.

Yes, my guitar is from Risto. Next one will be as well. After spending about 2 decades in this genre, I found that price to quality ratio of his guitars are really hard to beat.

Well you're in the EU then which gives you lots of options - gypsyguitar.de has a Nomade at the moment and the Fellowship of Acoustics has a nice range of Eastmans (which I rate above Altamira).

The way the dollar is going, it might end up being cheaper for you to buy from djangobooks!

I have no first hand experience of either but as you are in Greece you have at least two luthiers there who make what look like nice guitars.

Check in with Andreas Karayiannis at Leveller Guitars at:

Leveller Guitars (@levellerguitars) • Instagram photos and videos

His email is - [email protected]

or search for Andreas Karayiannis on Youtube where there are a few demos of his guitars.

Or there is Adonis Goulielmos at - www.goulielmos-guitars.gr

Michael has sold a few of his guitars on this site and he has some demos on here if you search Goulielmos.

If you get to try any of them let us know how you get on.
