    Hi Chris,

Below is a list with the dates and hyphens removed, but I think there's plenty we can winnow out, and plenty of other tunes that would be of better use. I'll send you a pm about the Google doc. Let's hope these giant lists don't scare people off!

Ok, so it seems there is a lot of interest in this. I would like to come up with a breakdown of who can do what so we can start giving out assignments. Based upon this thread and some emails I have received, here is what everyone can do:

Jack: Proofreading (and apparently awesome list revising)
    Barry (HCPhilly): Finale Work
    Christian (Larssen): Finale work
    AJA Tango: Copying work

If there are any other people that feel they can help, let me know, or if I didn't put down something that you can help with, I'll edit it.

One other thought...Chris mentioned using a wiki. We have one set up pretty well here:
    http://www.djangobooks.com/wiki/index.p ... Repertoire
Pages could just be added there.

    There's also this one:
    http://djangopedia.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page

I'm on board with whatever we end up with, but thought these might save some time in the initial setup stages...

    best,
    Jack.

p.s., you can put me in for 'providing sheet music' too...I've got a pretty decent collection.

I just received a large collection of music to use as source material for this project. So, I don't think that I really need anyones help in getting new music. What we will need is proofreaders to help revise some charts and also to catch copying errors.

I'll be putting up my templates here very soon. I believe Jack is working on coming up with a short list of the first tunes to do, then we can start working!

    Thanks everybody

Can't wait to get my hands on them!
    The compositions, that is...

BTW, Christian is way cool and a sh_t hot player...
    His charts are right on...
    Francois, Discographer God of Europe...(France)
Barry... Never had the chance to play with him... Yet... Thanks Barry...
    Jack is the Man...
AJA Tango... Thanks... Need to connect w/ him...

I wanted to do this a long time ago...

"Knowledge is the only thing you keep when you give it away"...

Anyone forsee any copyright problems with all of this?

we're just making up a book to share. technically we don't have to worry about copyright. no one sells it, no one worries. basically, we don't provide a possible income stream, for a law suit, we aren't a blip on the radar.

I also have a baot load of stuff if you need music.

I decided that I wanted to work with two different wikis at once. One is at my website. This is where we will upload finale files, unproofread pdfs, etc. This is only for the works in progress. For finished charts, I think we should post them on the djangobooks wiki.

The reason for the two wikis is that both pages will have different purposes. I don't really want to clutter up the djangobooks wiki with all of our proofreading comments, but Djangobooks wiki is really nicely laid out so we might as well use it for finished pdfs.

So, for everyone that is interested in working on this project, go to my wiki and I'll give out assignments there. I'll also be working on this thread with people who are interested in helping out but don't know how.

We also need someone to help build up the wiki. I started it up, but it is super bare bones at this point. If we could get that list that we created up there, it would be great. Also, if we could get a page for each of the lead sheets I have already created with a place to discuss that would be great. Any computer savvy people want to help with that?

    Hi all,

So I just did two things...I gave the first few tunes links to their own pages, but then realized how long a list it is. I couldn't figure out how to do it except by going through song by song, which would take forever. So, I copied the content list from the Djangopedia wiki...we'll have to add to it, but it's a good base list.

Check it out and let me know what you think; for now I've left our original list up as well...

    best,
    Jack.

Thats great. I did a little bit of editing and rewrote the main page. I have also set place markers for the songs that I have already done so someone doesn't accidentally redo the chart on their own. I figure if everyone does this when they start working on a song, then we can easily keep track of who is doing what.

All the templates are up, so if you are ready to work, we are ready for you. Pick a tune and get going!

an editorial note, (Berklee-izing ;) chord symbols should look like Cmaj7 Cm7 rather than using dashes. It can potentially get messy and confusing, This way there's no question what a chord is.
