Hello!
a little message to let you know about an upcoming gipsy swing CD release.
Imagine a legendary guitar,
actually an authentic Selmer guitar of 1946,
serial #607 (Django's was #503)
Take five young french guitarists,
among the best and most promising of their generation :
Sébastien Giniaux, Adrien Moignard, Noé Reinhardt, Richard Manetti and Rocky Gresset.
Give them one day each in the studio, with the Selmer and a rock solid backing section, Ghali Hadefi & David Gastine on guitars and Jeremie Arranger on upright bass.
And there you have it : Selmer #607.
16 tracks, about 60 minutes of high class gipsy swing but also true wonders : duets, down-tempo's, waltz, guests, original songs...
Album release is april 12th.
Hit "Adrien Moignard" or "Selmer 607" in youtube for a little glimpse of what is to come. More videos of the recording sessions will follow on a regular basis in march.
More info on the website
www.selmer607.com (in french, but the english version is on it's way, hit "Le Disque" for mp3 samples of all tracks) or

Cheers!

These are some top young players. I've heard two of them live and three others on albums and they're all just fantastic - tasty - creative - and yet very legit with respect to the style.
I can't wait for this album - Sebastian & his friend Frederic Gomes put out an album several years ago called "Borsalino: Place des Vosges" which was great though hard to find. I think Jeremie may have also been on it but I can't remember.
Can't wait to hear it. Good luck with the release.

PS, Adrien is coming to the states in June w/ fantastic rhythm guitar Mathieu Chatelain who backed Sebastian at Djangofest Northwest last year. What a treat. Mathieu's rhythm is so solid and yet it bounces along - just wonderful stuff.
I actually recorded both albums, Selmer #607 & Borsalino : Place des Vosges.
Jéremie is indeed the upright bass player on both records. I remember "Swing 39" was a really fun one to track with 6 or 7 choruses from different players.
The violin player Guillaume Singer played as well on the Borsalino album and has been invited by Sébastien Giniaux on one track for the Selmer #607 album : Viper's Dream. One of the most impressive track of the album I must say (playing & arrangement wise).

Salut!

No DVD planned, but all videos will be available on the web eventually, as downloads with better image & sound quality in a while.
Also coming are chords progressions of tunes of the album (great arrangements of "What a wonderful world" that modulates in B for chorus, and "Polkadots & Sunbeams" as played for solo guitar by Rocky Gresset).
Some backing tracks will also be available, beginning with "Swing 48" (Django Reinhardt), and "Impression" (John Coltrane), so if you want to measure up to Adrien Moignard & Rocky Gresset you'll be able too... !
Cheers
