Pingary is answering to a comment I made about Weissenborn earlier in this thread. Well, I actually bought a Goldtone SM some weeks ago (the solid mahogany one), second hand, mint condition to discover quite soon it had a tedious rattling coming from inside when playing high notes. It came out almost every brace was detached inside and had to be glued back again. Still waiting for my luthier to fix it... next time I'll go Bear Creek, I swear. Normally Goldtone doesn't sound that bad though:

I am a little confused by this thread. So is there or isn't there a nylon string Gitane available? Also is the thinline nylon Gitane in the picture available? I would very interested in either one.

I don't think it's widely available yet -- not even sure what the current rumored release date is supposed to be? The one's in the pic iirc were prototypes.

Has anyone played a Eimers D 14 fret?

I am wondering how the sound is on it. Apparently it has the punchy treble but also quite a decent low bass on it too..

I would be greatful for your learned opinions..

    merci.

Nylon stringed D hole fans should seriously consider Alves De Puga's instruments. He also does a 7 string model:

I sent an email to Saga. They said it would be available in early 2009.

2 instruments I have waited to see if SAGA might produce:

An upgraded 12 fret D hole and the nylon

They said 2 years ago these were in the pipeline

    that is one long pipeline
