  • Methinks Michael has hit the nail on the head.

For me the first part of the strokes is identical ...once past the string instead of resting on the string I continue up and by the time my pick is getting close to the next string it is circling up to come back for the next.

As i said earlier I thought it a fault....now I am just going to follow Dennis's if it sounds right it is right and play as I have developed. It is almost 3 years since I switched to rest stroke picking and while for the last two sax practice has limited my guitar to about a half to one hour per day....I am back to where I was speed wise playing alternate stroke....whew...BUT IT WAS SOOOO WORTH THE EFFORT
The Magic really starts to happen when you can play it with your eyes closed
