Wow! Lots of discussion on something that is already figured out. There are already 13 songs on the wiki, all with -7b5 as the way to write that chord. I think I explained the reasoning about 4 or 5 pages ago (thats the way the real book has it, and it is shorter), and I think we should just stick to it. In other words, it is better to use this time cranking out songs with the templates that we already have than discussing how the template can be changed.
As for writing tensions, only write them out if they are different than what would normally happen. If the V7/V chord has a b9, write it. If not, we can all assume that it is natural 9 and 13. So, only 7, 6, maj7, -7b5, -6, etc. No tensions (6/9, etc) unless it is either mandatory to write (where a normal 6 chord just doesn't cut it), or where it is different than what it "should" be.
As for doing this in finale, I have talked with Robert Saunders (the only other person to have done charts so far) and finale notepad can't use my template. So, if you are doing finale notepad, start a new document, choose alto voice as the instrument (guitar transposes, so it adds one more step for me) and start inputing the notes only. no chords, no titling, just notes. I'll do the rest. If you have finale, follow my directions on the wiki and it will make my job much easier.
Any questiions, email me at christopherpeterson@gmail.com or go to the wiki at http://www.petersonmusic.com/wiki. I have lots of reference lead sheets, so if you want to do a specific song, email me and I'll email that lead sheet to you.
hey Chris... can you put instructions on how to setup Finale for people who havent done it before , on your wiki?
More importantly, is there a free version of Finale that is useable?
Since a WIKi can actually deliver images, can the chord charts also be posted as jpg images on the WIKI? It would make accessing the images much faster.
An idea: you could provide a single PDF , which you keep updated, that contains the entire chart set for the book.
Another idea: a great free PDF reader is "FoxIt Reader". YOu could put a download link on your site.

Robert,
I guess there isn't a page yet that says what is completed. I'll fix that now. You can view recent changes through the link on the front page, but that can be a little unintuitive.
As for a tutorial on how to use finale notepad, it is pretty simple to use. There are so few features that it is quite easy (unlike finale which can be a real pain to the newbie).
I'll think about an easy way to implement a group pdf. The reason I haven't done it yet is because I am not entirely convinced on what the proper file format should be. I am not home, so I can't print out the pdfs against the original finale file to see if there is a discrepancy. When I am able to do that (this weekend?) I'll set up a group pdf, or do jpegs on the site, or whatever.

I've been using foxit forever and agree...SO much faster than adobe. The only problem I'm having is that even though foxit is my default reader, pdfs both here and on the wiki always open in adobe. Can anyone tell me how to change that?
while I do agree with you here's the flip side. this music isn't well known or all that accessible. it's a labor of love not for profit but, for education i.e. fair uset o expose others (as many as possible) to the music.

Actually, it is used frequently in printed scores for that progression (which is where I got the idea), but I have rarely seen it in fake sheets.

Is there a link or indicator on the wiki site that indicates what songs have been posted, so we can go check 'em out? Did I miss that memo?

Free version of Notepad is here:

Actually it is so elementary you may not need any instructions except the program's own prompts. I didn't, and I'm no Einstein.
