Did you take Stochelo Rosenberg online class? I am thinking about taking part in online gypsy jazz course and so far I only know that Stochelo created this kind of online school. Do you think there are other gj online courses worth recommending?

I really enjoy volume 1 of this book. Unfortunately, I've lost my copy of this before I could work through the whole thing.I've searched high and low...would anyone be willing to part with a used copy?

I didn't see any comments about the wrong notation. No frills self-publishing is fine, if the content is useful, which How I Learned mostly is. But the first song I started with was All Of Me, which, on the recording has F# as the last note in the C arpeggio (last note, bar 2), but according to the TAB that note should be a G. I went with the recording. But I am now wondering how many more transcription errors there are. Moreover, the numbers written on the TABs are not always clear (is that a 6, 8, or 0? A 7 or a 1?). Then of course there are the sloppily written chords in the back which are pretty much unintelligible. Of course, the material itself is incredibly valuable. I am not asking for slick Mel Bay publishing quality, but just neater writing, and a little more attention to details.

Yes, there are certainly some limitations and possible errors with a low budget publication like this. You are doing the correct thing by using your ears and reasoning to check it.

I've even seen 'errors' in the much more expensive tutorial services.

Bottom line, the transcribers make mistakes. The players even make 'mistakes' (yes it's true the gods do that) and sometimes the transcribers catch those and notate them 'correctly' or miss them. Use your ears, take what you like and/or change it to make it your own.

Gonzalo, and the other great players, improvise on the fly and rarely play it the exact same way twice and also may take a lot of liberties. Those 'etudes' are just once thru a set of changes for example. Also, these are not for beginners IMO.
