Let me know if this clarifies things a bit! @Rip is better at the "reverse la pompe" than I am, and and it's much harder to hear the difference at higher tempos in my experience.
I agree that it does seem normal, but it's like an optical illusion. I recorded 2 rhythm tracks. The first is straight fours done with a metronome with a click every beat. When I recorded the 2nd rhythm track my whole focus was to put the upstroke after the 1 and 3, not before, I made sure of this. I think it's like what Mark said, where I might have corrected in my solo, which made it sound correct.
I keep listening to your Rose Room track over and over and I clearly hear the upstroke before 1 and 3. What you originally described, I understood being as demoed in @ChristopheCarington video. But this is not what's in the Rose Room sample. What @littlemark said makes sense as a possibility: a reverse reversal
Okay, please ignore the recording, I'm not a professional!! My initial question was about the diagram I just posted. I was just wondering if anybody has done this? Asking for a friend.

Awesome video! Here is a picture of how I played it. I was probably unclear before, but this is exactly what a did. It has more of a gallop.

ps
This would be easier if we were in person, lol!
just rhythm guitar video
I think I'm even more confused now. No upstroke on that video. So was it just trying to put the accent on the 1 and 3?
There is an upstroke, it happens quick. I can feel the pick hit the strings and hear the chord when my pick goes up. Come to dfnw, I'll show you
